Session Title: If You Value Social Enterprise Then a Double Bottomline Is for You

Balancing community reinvestment against profit is both the greatest challenge and the defining metric of social enterprise. Come learn how a 150 year old business model has been recast into a thriving Public-Benefit Organization. Attendees will learn about Good Karma Bike’s multi-tiered approach to its mission— reducing landfill by recycling bikes, providing transportation for homeless and low-income workers, while putting the lion’s share of its revenues towards supporting aged-out foster youth. Tour the retail space and the repair and refurbishment shop and, time permitting, volunteer to work on a bike for the full Good Karma Bike’s volunteer experience.
