Session Title: Fighting Fake News and Defending Access to Information

Join the San Francisco Public Press for a provocative discussion about the evolution of independent news organizations in an era when public figures promote unfiltered agendas through social media. We’ll talk about the importance of having trusted news sources and prioritizing public-interest reporting for local, regional and national news coverage. Learn how the Public Press is producing in-depth, investigative journalism for the Bay Area and developing a nonprofit, noncommercial model for local public-interest news that can be replicated in other communities. Talk with our editors about how they tackle data-driven reporting and share your ideas about local issues that need more coverage.
