Session Title: Too Good to Waste

In this session attendees will learn to help fight food waste in their daily lives and at home. We’ll start by quantifying how much food is going to waste and why consumers aesthetic standards contribute to hunger in this country. The session will cover what "ugly food" is and why is it being thrown out. Then, we’ll look at examples of ugly produce on a spectrum— wow wild and crazy can it be, and what constitutes normal looking food?

Imperfect Foods

In the United States, 1 in 5 fruits and vegetables grown don't fit grocery stores' strict cosmetic standards -- the crooked carrot, the curvy cucumber, the undersized apple -- usually causing them to go to waste. Imperfect's mission is to find a home for these "ugly" fruits and veggies, starting with our produce delivery subscription in the Bay. And because they look a little funny, you get the 30-50% off!
